The Stamp

The stamp comes from 10 designs issue, only in self-adhesive pane and booklet format.

New Zealand is home to a wide range of creatures that creep, crawl, slither and fly. From the male cicada, whose song is an integral part of every summer, to the giant weta, a species that dates back more than 190 million years, they all play a vital role in our ecosystem. The giant land snail, peripatus, giant dragonfly, puriri moth, flax weevil, giant veined slug, katipo spider and the huhu beetle are each an important part of New Zealand's extraordinarily rich biological diversity. Together they help make this corner of the world unique.

Giant Dragonfly, with a wingspan of 100mm - 120mm, the giant dragonfly (Uropetala carovei) is the largest of 11 dragonflies found in New Zealand.
